Compassion band started as a little choir group in 1993 in Strong Tower Mission, with four singers and a key boardist. The group led fifteen missionaries in praise and worship every week day in the morning before commencement of daily ministration to the orphans and the poor.

This went on for about two years. As the mission began to expand her cope of ministrations, the need arouse for more instruments and more musicians. The chairman of Goldmyne International, Capt Jide George single-handedly bought and equipped the band with top-of-the-range musical equipments.

He then concentrated on training and mentoring this group of talented artistes personally. Today he remains the sole sponsor and patron of Compassion band.

The band caught the vision of generating funds for the little saints orphanage, an arm of strong tower mission. To do this they began to perform at weddings, naming ceremonies, concerts and crusades etc for a small fee.

The proceeds of most of their engagements subsidized the funds expended on the orphanage. They also went with the missionaries on missions to minister and propagate the gospel of Jesus Christ.

To date they have numerous programmes to their kudos:

Compassion Explosion: An annual programme that generates funds for specific projects for the little saints' orphanage, which in the past two years has been cosponsored by Sheraton Lagos hotel and towers.

Joy Night: A quarterly programme that brings awareness to the plight of orphans and the needy, generate funds and also create a joyous and condusive atmosphere for the worship and celebration of our Lord Jesus Christ by all the compassionate friends of the mission.

Circle of Stars: A weekly family entertainment programme on MBI (Minaj Broadcast International, Nigeria).

To cap it all their weekday renditions at the Strong Tower Mission breakfast fellowship, has continually refreshed and revived the people.

Today we celebrate and appreciate their various contributions to Christendom and to the lives of the orphans and the needy.

The album ‘Compassion’ says it all. Through their music they will rekindle the dying ambers of love in our great nation Nigeria. Join them to spread the fire!!!
